Been cooking for three days
There’s a TV turned on somewhere
Bot no one’s watching the parade

Waiting for your Dallas cousins
You get to see them twice a year
Easter time you drive to Dallas
On Thanksgiving they come here

When your grandfather comes to visit
A suit and tie on every day
That’s because he is a gentleman
And he likes to dress that way

The group assembles at the table
One by one they take the floor
Each in turn will have their moment
To tell what they are thankful for

Roasted turkey oyster dressing
Potatoes, beans, cranberry sauce
Tofu for the vegetarians
Root vegetables for all

The meal is delicious
The feast is a delight
And even though you’ve eaten way too much
There’s always room for pie

We’re thankful for each other
For the sun the stars the trees
And someday when we’re older
We’ll be thankful for the memories
